Miraflores, one of the most beautiful districts in Lima-Peru, has a new beautiful 2D restaurant. Here I bring you my experience with its flavors and artistry of the architecture. Come explore it with me!
Miraflores is a beautiful district in Lima, Peru. This charming locale stands as Lima’s premier attraction, offering upscale dining, boutique shopping, hidden treasures, and notably, an incredibly pedestrian-friendly environment.
The Appeal of Miraflores
Miraflores is not just a picturesque district, but also my home. It’s where my mom was born, where she lived while attending school to work for the Peruvian Air Force, and where she met my dad. Regardless of where we live, we always return to Miraflores.
Even though I currently live in Savannah-Georgia. Every year, I make it a point to return to my beloved city, and of course, to my cherished Miraflores. I revisit my favorite spots at least a couple of times annually.
As I stroll along familiar pathways in search of my favorite traditional delights, I’ve noticed a trend: new businesses frequently emerge, adding a fresh vibrancy. Yet, just as often, they vanish by my next visit, leaving a sense of impermanence.
I’ve been loyal to a few spots throughout my life. Some of them have been open since the early 1960s, earning the distinction of being cherished favorites for my grandparents and parents. Among these is the venerable “La Tiendecita Blanca,” a Swiss chocolatier and fine dining venue that traces its origins back to the 1930s (initially operating solely as a chocolate shop). Another example is Manolo, a timeless classic Spanish Café renowned for serving the finest churros in our city, among other delicious treats.
While I consistently gravitate back to these special places, a recent experience caught my attention. This time, it was a new spot that captivated me: a visually captivating 2D-themed espresso café. The combination of delectable cuisine and beverages within a two-dimensional painted setting was truly unique.
A New Restaurant with 2D Magic
Honestly, words fall short in describing the beauty and artistry of it. So, let me show you instead:
The ingeniously named “Helarte” plays with Spanish language nuances, blending “Helado” (Ice-cream) and “El Arte” (The Art). This fusion encapsulates their concept. While their focus shines on ice cream, crepes, and waffles, their appeal extends beyond sweets. Beyond the inviting ambiance and enticing promise of delicious desserts, Helarte surprises patrons with a diverse menu that includes savory options as well.
My exploration of Helarte left me awestruck. Every detail, meticulously hand-painted, contributed to a mesmerizing blend of enchantment and cartoon-like charm.
The café buzzed with activity; it’s clear this place is here to stay. Patrons seemed captivated, savoring each visual delight before even considering their culinary choices. The experience was one where eyes indulged in wonderment long before appetites were satisfied.
If you have the chance to visit Miraflores (and I wholeheartedly recommend that you do), make sure to give this spot a try – it’s truly a treat for all the senses. Just be warned, this place gets BUSY, seemed to be the hottest thing right now, so expect a bit of a wait or get there early. Come for a savory treat or a dessert.
Here is a glimpse of the menu:
