This is a weekly article where we connect—you and me, reader and writer. It’s a more personal space, while my other articles serve you as a guide on what to do, eat, and drink in this lovely city we call Savannah, Georgia.
You’ll also find links to my weekly work featured in local publications like The Savannah Agenda.

This week is insane. Every second, every minute.
It sits still in silence, rain humming in the background… And yet, it screams.
I quit my bartending job of five years.
While I still believe that restaurant is one of the best in the city—and the chef, an artist—it was overdue. Sometimes, it’s just time to move on.
But here’s the thing… I thought this one was the dream job.
Like first-week butterflies when you start dating someone you really like.
I’ve identified with this job for so long that I’m floating in limbo. But strangely? This limbo feels like cozy blankets and kittens napping all around me. I’m addicted to it. It feels delicious.
Then I close my eyes, and suddenly, it’s terrifying.
I convinced myself this was the one. The retirement job. The final stop before I became a full-time internet babbling ranting thing writer.
But you know what?
Things rarely go the way you expect them to.
Actually, they very rarely do.
And sometimes? That’s the best possible outcome.
If someone told me last year that I’d leave my job, maybe start a new one, monetize my website, and land a bunch of writing gigs? I wouldn’t have believed them.
But here we are.
I’ve been writing for local Savannah publications for about a year now. It’s incredible work. And here’s the thing, Joe and Vera’s opened on Broughton Street, and this might be my best piece yet.
Being part of that story was amazing. In fact, getting connected locally to all these stories has been incredible.
When I read my work, it feels like it really happened. Like moments can be frozen in time, then shared and refracted—like crystals full of light.
This is what happened in one year. A Pandora’s box of local storytelling flew open.
Half the time, I don’t know what I’m doing, but it’s done with pure love.
Sometimes, things just… flow.
Let me step away from this emotional beach with a perfect sunset and birds of paradise for a moment (aka: my week)—because what’s happening next in Savannah is excellent:
🥞 The Laundry Diner opened. Article on that coming soon.
It’s perfect timing because I’ve got two pieces cooking:
- Late Night Bites in Savannah
- Diner-Style Eateries You’ll Love
And this one fits both.

🍹 Happy hour heads-up: I’m posting a piece soon and… it’s epic. Honestly, it is ridiculous.
🔥 SoyxSoy is hosting Noche de San Juan at Savoy Society this Sunday, June 22.
That party will be legendary. My article on it drops Monday in The Savannah Agenda’s newsletter. Don’t miss it.
Also, let me share a little service industry secret:
If you’re in the service industry (like I’ve been for what feels like a zillion f***ing years), The Alida Hotel has FREE pool access on Mondays. Yes, really.
Click “Cabana Reservations” (No worries—we’re not getting a cabana, that’s just where you click).
Then scroll down and choose “Poolside Lounger Day Pass.”
✅ This can only be reserved same-day (aka: Monday morning).
Enter coupon code “Service2025”. Come swim and tan with me. 👙
The Alida Hotel is the O.G. for doing this.
I hear there’s also a service industry discount on food and drinks—TBD. I’ll report back.
What else?
I want to go blonde and pink for summer (pics coming). I’m working out every day again. I’m back on the green juice train (they take forever to make, help). I’m doing SO MUCH SELF LOVE.
Because once you do one big act of self-love, the rest gets easier.
Enough me, drop me a line and tell me something amazing about your summer, please!
And speaking of summer rituals…
I really want to go to the European Wax Center but I’m absolutely terrified. Like… what do you tip someone for a Brazilian wax? All the money you’ve ever had?? This woman’s looking at your cooch, making it pretty, and not saying anything devastating.
If anyone knows a wax tech who is also a saint—please share.

Happy pool season. See you in the sunshine.
